Led by basketball legend Nancy Lieberman, the Nancy Lieberman Charities donated 5,000 masks Oct. 23 to the city for Dallas educators and students.
The donation is the third – and the largest – made by the 501(c)3 organization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Eric Johnson has asked community partners to help distribute the masks.
Wearing face coverings has been mandated in most public settings in Texas and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The COVID-19 pandemic still poses a significant risk to the health, welfare and economic well-being of our communities,” Johnson said. “Masking up is critical to slowing the spread of this insidious virus and to helping keep our schools and businesses open.
