Maryland Administers 7 Millionth COVID Vaccine Dose

Maryland has now administered 7 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, a notable milestone even as vaccination rates slow and COVID-19 cases surge in the state.

The state surpassed the 7 million mark Thursday, according health department data.

Meanwhile, the state reported 178 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths over a 72-hour period ending Thursday. Maryland reported more than 100 new cases Thursday for the third consecutive day, Baltimore’s WJZ-TV reported.

Although a state of emergency was lifted in Maryland, officially ending all COVID-19 related restrictions, Gov. Larry Hogan said during a recent press conference that unvaccinated Marylanders accounted for 100% of virus-related deaths in June, 95% of all new cases and 93% of hospitalizations.
